Two Rad E-bikes (the brand name is “Rad,” but they’re also fairly “rad” to ride!) can be towed behind our RV using an RV bike rack. We’ve ridden them in campgrounds, on city streets, through forests, and even in the middle of the desert. “Fat Bike” tyres are able to tackle a wide range of terrain, and we’ve fallen in love with them.
If our readers are considering bringing their bikes along on their RV adventures but aren’t sure how to get them there, we thought it would be a good idea to share some of the gear we’ve used to get the most out of our bikes.
Best Bike Racks for RVs:
Swagman is the first of several products from this company that we’ll be featuring. As a potential buyer, I see a slew of appealing features on this Swagman bike rack for RV.
For example, its 70-pound weight capacity makes it ideal for carrying the two 35-pound bikes I intend to bring along on my RVing trip.. In other words, it’s exactly what I’m looking for as a recreational vehicle owner.
You can’t go wrong with the option of a lifetime warranty, either. In the event that something goes wrong, it’s not a bad idea to have a little insurance on hand. In addition, it gives me faith in Swagman’s belief in this product.
This product’s sliding wheel hoops are another feature I’d want to see on any RV bike rack I purchase. This feature is capable of supporting wheels ranging from 20 to 29 inches in diameter, ensuring that your bike’s wheels will not be damaged during transport.
There are two distinct mounting solutions available for this bike rack: a 2-inch hitch receiver and a bumper mount. As a result, you have the option of mounting this rack on your bumper or on your hitch.
Isn’t it cool? Further security for your bicycles is provided by the bike rack’s push button ratchet arms, which can be adjusted with ease. For those who want to keep their bikes attached to their frames, the hooks are a godsend.

- Two distinct types of wall mounts
- Hoops for sliding wheels
- a guarantee that lasts the rest of your life
- Push-button ratcheting arms.
- Some customers claimed that the installation was too complicated for their needs.
This ladder rack from Swagman is a great option if you need a bike rack for your RV. Given its characteristics, I can see why it’s a top-selling model on the entire market.
I mean, the aluminium construction of this product makes it really easy to transport, therefore the installation process should not be a problem. A great feature of the aluminium construction is that it has excellent corrosion resistance, making it a great choice for outdoor use where rust can be an issue.
This product’s structure also assures that it can easily carry up to 70 pounds, which makes it ideal for my two bikes. I particularly like that the metal construction is corrosion-resistant, which will do wonders in the face of environmental elements like rust.
Swagman’s RV ladder bike rack has a hook design that makes it simple to install. These hooks are a must-have if you want to keep the bikes off the ground when securing them.
The bikes can be removed and reinstalled in a matter of seconds thanks to the rack’s easy design. Because I don’t want to waste precious time figuring out where my bike rack is, this feature is a godsend.
Rubber straps are included, which adds an extra layer of security and protection for my bikes. Another safety safeguard taken by Swagman is the dual-arm design, which ensures that your motorcycles will not be damaged.
This rack would be the best RV ladder bike rack on the market if only it had one major problem.. As a potential buyer, I’d be wary of this product’s durability after reading a few user reviews.

Our next product is a ladder bike rack from Camco, a name that should be known to any RV owner. If you’re a cheap shopper, you might want to check out this one.
After all, this device has numerous attributes that I appreciate. The design of this bike rack, for example, makes it simple to install, as it should easily hook onto your RV’s back ladder.
When it comes to the installation, Camco has made it possible for you to add on a skilled installation service. One further perk of this product: the price isn’t prohibitively high.
In addition, this bike rack’s easy removal of the bikes is a big plus. Getting your bikes out of this model won’t be a hassle or a waste of your time.
One of the advantages of this device is its ability to store a large amount of data at once. Folding it up while not in use is a feature of its design.
When you don’t need the extra storage, you won’t have to worry about wasting it. There is no need to store anything because you can simply strap it to the top of your roof and keep it out of the way.
It’s hard to find a more convenient RV bike rack than this one, and it’s a cinch to remove. However, this model has a few minor drawbacks despite all of its excellent features.
That it can only carry 60 pounds, which is less than I need, isn’t appealing to me. Some buyers also complained about the product’s sturdiness being compromised by it bending.

Other Factors to Consider When Choosing the Best RV Ladder and Bike Rack.
However, this section doesn’t cover everything you need to know before purchasing a bike rack.
In this area, we’ll provide you with all the information you need to make an informed purchase of a bike rack. In other words, it will ensure that you have all the information you need to make an informed decision.
RV bike racks are used to secure bikes to the vehicle.
There are a number of reasons why an RV bike rack is necessary, but none of them are more important than saving space. Because, you know, how many times have you tried to stow something new only to find that your bikes are blocking the path?
Fortunately, there is a high-quality RV bike rack to help with this. Before you buy one of these items, you need to know a few things about them. As an example, the type of RV bike rack you’ll require depends on the configuration of your RV.
To put it another way, you’ll need to find one that will fit your car. The size of your bike or bikes, as well as the number of bikes you intend to move, should also be considered. As you may anticipate, the weight capacity of bike racks varies.
In order to narrow down your options, it’s critical that you make sure the one you choose can meet your requirements. RV bike racks may typically accommodate one to three bicycles. There are models that can hold up to five bicycles if that’s what you need.
You’ll also need to know that there are a variety of racks to choose from. A hitch-mounted rack is an excellent choice for RV owners because it is extremely convenient and can be installed in less than five minutes.
The other two (bumper and ladder racks) should also be investigated. They’re both good solutions, although the bumper racks installation can be a pain, and the ladder racks are more of a nuisance to use.
What kinds of bike racks can you get for your RV?
It can be a little frustrating for a potential customer to find RV bike racks in all different forms and sizes. So how can you know which type of RV is ideal for you?
Those topics will be thoroughly explored in this section. In addition, we’ll go through the differences between the three most common kinds of bike racks (hitch-mounted, bumper-mounted, and ladder-mounted racks). The market will be much easier to navigate if you are aware of the distinctions.
Mounted Racks for a Tow Vehicle’s Hitch
Hitch-mounted racks, as previously indicated, are the most popular option for RV owners. Installing these racks is made more easier by the fact that they are designed to be used with RVs that already have hitches installed.
It’s also important to know that these racks can hold a different number of bikes. Many hitch-mounted racks come in two, three, and four bike configurations. Hanging and platform options are also available for these racks.
Consequently, you’ll need to choose the type and loading capacity that best suits your needs. It’s worth noting that these racks may be used on a variety of different cars, proving their adaptability.
This rack’s obvious advantage is that it can be mounted on any vehicle with a 2-inch hitch receiver, making it simple to transfer it from an RV to a truck or other vehicle of this sort. There are so many possibilities with a product like this one in mind.
Racks that are attached to the bumper
Some RV owners prefer to use a bumper-mounted bike rack since it eliminates the risk of your mounted bikes interfering with your driving visibility. As a result, you won’t be able to use your bike’s bumper to obscure part of your windscreen.
A bumper-mounted rack would be ideal for me because of my careful driving style. Some drawbacks exist with this product type. For starters, only RVs with steel frames and a bumper that spans the entire width of the vehicle is compatible with these models.
You can see that a bumper like this one would be able to withstand the weight of the bikes. A lack of a bumper like this one may lead to a serious problem that would necessitate the purchase of both a new bike and a new rack.
For a bumper-mounted rack, if you’ve got the right bumper, it’ll work perfectly. These racks can often hold two or more bikes, depending on the style you choose. Because you won’t have to use your trailer hitch or ladder, these bins are better for storage.
Racks that are attached to a ladder
Ladder-mounted racks are those that attach to the back ladder of your RV. The front tyres of the motorcycles will face the ground when they are hung vertically. It is, however, cumbersome to utilize a ladder-mounted rack for other purposes because it requires the ladder.
Every time you need to use the ladder for another task, you’ll have to dismount the bikes. The loading capacity of these racks is also less than that of the other two types. Two bikes are the most you should be able to haul, and even then, they need to be lightweight.
People without a hitch receiver or bumper often resort to this option as a last resort. You’d be better off opting with one of the other two types of RV bike racks if you’re looking for the ideal one for you.
