The Brakes
Almost all fat bikes now on the market have either mechanical or hydraulic disc brakes. When it comes to stopping power, the mechanical disc brakes on the Mongoose Dolomite are adequate. For the money, I’d rather have hydraulic brakes, but that’s all you get.
Speeds and Gear Shifting
Dolomite has a seven-speed Shimano rear derailleur that makes shifting gears a breeze. The seven speeds are sufficient for simple hill climbing or high-speed trail downhilling. However, don’t expect a vast variety of gears for mountains. For shifting gears, the bike has a standard Shimano Revo twist shifter. Even though I would prefer a thumb shifter on a fat bike, I understand that money is an important consideration in this case.
Saddle and Pedals
The saddle and pedals continue the trend of using low-cost components to lower the cost of a bike. For the most part, most people will find the saddle to be comfortable. I’ve never had a single complaint regarding the saddle’s comfort. Comfort, stability, and simplicity are all you can expect from the pedals, which are beach cruiser-style pedals.

It’s easy to put together Mongoose Dolomite if you just follow the directions. In most cases, the rear wheel is already attached, and the front wheel must be installed. When the disc brakes and handlebars are properly aligned, you’re done! The pedals and saddle need to be attached at this point. Once you’ve finished tightening and adjusting everything, you’re ready to go.
