UCI World Championship Favorites | Cycling World Championship

When the 2020 UCI world championship was announced right after the lockdown was lifted, people were finally relieved as things were starting to go back to how they previously were. This major event took place in the beautiful city of Italy called Imola where riders above 23 years of age were allowed to take part in the world championship.

Michael Woods

Michael Woods, who represents Canada, was hit with a stroke of luck when a global pandemic took over the world. His return won him a solo stage at the Tirreno-Adriatico and allowed him to acquire the GC leading position. 2020 was the last year for him as a Cannondale member as now he has become an active member of team Israel Start-Up Nation.

Wout Van Alert

Riding for Belgium, so far this rider has managed to bag two stage wins and top 5 finishes for a total of 5 times. Apart from playing as a super domestique for Primoz Roglic and experiencing an unforgettable crash during the 2019 Tour, Van Alert announced his big return to the 2020 UCI World championship. After coming out of lockdown all fresh and ready to take on the world, Van bagged a stage win along with the Milano-Sanremo and Strade Bianche winnings.

Julian Alaphilipe

At Worlds, the France representative cyclist, Alaphilipe has been listed in the top 10 twice. His impressive cycling at the Tour and second stage win had made his return to the season even stronger and his tremendous performance at the Milano Sanremo led him to finish second while Van Alert took the first position.

Primoz Roglic

Being the winner of Tour de l’Ain, the Tour and the stage, and one of the UCI World Championship favorites, Roglic has continued to express his true efforts and consistency throughout his national and international road race career. The 2020 UCI championship marked Pogacar and Roglic in the same team to battle for France.

Jakob Fuglsang

Jakob is regarded as major a cyclist of the Danish squad (Denmark) consisting of 8 men with extraordinary competitive skills. Being the winner of Lombardia and Astana veteran, Fugslang took his racing career to a next level by entering this season of the UCI World Championship with a pack of 8 cyclist men.
