Each team has one bike presented here. Team riders can choose from a few models from most brands. For example, Movistar riders have their choice of the Canyon Aeroad aero bike or the Ultimate all-around race bike. In addition, time trial bikes are also available.

What Bikes Are Used In Tour De France – Know about Tour De France

Tour de France is widely recognized as the most prestigious bicycling race in the world. There is no doubt that the Tour de France bikes are among the very best the money can buy.

In 2021, the bikes used at the Tour de France will be made out of carbon fiber. Those include frames, wheels, and most components, including handlebars and seat posts. With Campagnolo components, Tadej Pogacar won the 2020 Tour de France.

It has been a rule in the pro peloton, as defined by the UCI (Union Cycliste Internationale), that bikes must weigh no more than 6.8kg. The standard was created in 2000 to prevent manufacturers from cutting corners on safety in a race to produce the lightest bikes possible.

Over the years, the weight limit has been contested many times, but the UCI has remained steadfast. In the face of this lower limit, manufacturers have instead sought to outperform their rivals in other ways, such as improving aerodynamics, improving braking systems, and improving drivetrain efficiency and tire efficiency.

During the Tour de France, cyclists compete with bikes that are specially designed for racing. These heavy duty machines weigh 40kg or more and have high quality components like double walled tires to resist punctures in event of a flat bike accident on route!

The world’s most famous cycling race is called “le tour” which translates loosely as “the ride.” The original French name was Le Grand Depart but it now goes by its English equivalent because… well who wants admit defeat before even starting?

This year there are 29 stages spanning 3 Administrations so nearly 9000 km altogether – this takes place over 5 weeks yet only 1 day feels enough time when you’re out there pedaling faster than.

1. Astana / Wilier Triestina 0 SLR

Astana’s elegant Wilier Zero SLR was our favorite bicycle at this year’s Tour de France. Zero, won two stages during this Tour by Alexey Lutsenko and Miguel angel López, is touted by the Italian manufacturer as the first ultra-light racing bike with disc brakes and fully integrated cables.

There’s no doubt it’s gorgeous. This bike easily tops our ranking because of its beautiful paint job, unusual handmade French Corima carbon wheels, Dura-Ace groupset, and extra-fast Ceramic Speed pulley wheels.

With a new team and a fresh design, the Astana has been outshining all other bikes on its type. This is due to how well they’ve executed their improvements from last season with some tweaks here and there for good measure!

2. EF Pro Cycling / Cannondale SystemSix

Cannondale’s SuperSix EVO frameset, with their blue-pink aero housing, look as good as EF’s pink jerseys. We’ve spent a lot of time riding the EVO, a lightweight, fast, and fun all-around bike that gets better with each iteration. Cannondale says this is its lightest bike ever at 30 mph, saving 30 watts.

In the case of stage winner Dani Martnez and eighth-place overall finisher Rigoberto Urán, it worked very well. The build is completed with Vision wheels, electronic Dura-Aces, and a Garmin Edge computer/power meter.

3. Ineos-Grenadiers / Pinarello Dogma

A matte-black Pinarello Dogma from Team Sky came dead last in our earlier rankings. However, the crew now known as Ineos-Grenadiers is sitting on our podium in a new-looking Blue, Red, and White Dogma F12. Its curves and aero tube shapes have always made it stand out, and with its updated smart looks, the multiple-Tour-winning bike has never looked better.

A Dura-Ace groupset makes the bike even faster, and the wheels on the bike seem to be the wrong brand. Thanks to Micha* Kwiatkowski after Egan Bernal’s implosion and early exit, the top team won only one stage this year, thanks to Micha* Kwiatkowski.

Ineos-Grenadiers is a group of dog mushers that were first seen racing in the 2008 Toyotaui sled race. The team won 3 outta 5 races and finished second overall to Pinarello Dogma, who themselves had taken home 1 win from 4 starts throughout their career up until then!

The Ineoshus was founded by Gino Iuliuso after he retired following an injury suffered during competition which left him unable tow with child or grandchild anymore due lack support needed post retirement but still wanting one final challenge before calling it quits forever so when Toyota called offering sponsorship on condition they could use all winners names as part iced logos if desired

4. Mitchelton-Scott / Scott Addict RC

Mitchelton-Scott rides arguably the most beautiful bike in the peloton: the Scott Addict. In a matte-black frame field, the colorful paint on this frame appears to change color under bright sunlight.

The bike is also one of the most aerodynamic, with its slippery tubing, fully integrated cables, minimalist cockpit, and Dura-Ace wheels. The squad did not win a stage this year, but Adam Yates led the race for a while.

When you think of a professional cycling team, the first thing that likely comes to mind is Mitchelton-Scott. With nine Tour de France wins under their belt and counting as well as one World Championships victory in 2005 among other successes around Europe, they have been considered by many experts on top tier road races for more than two decades now!

The Australian squad was established back when Michael “Mick” Sherwin founded it all alone with just three riders; these days there are 24 professionals racing alongside him including grand tour heroes like Esteban Chaves (Colombia).

5. Jumbo-Visma / Bianchi Oltre XR4

Our ranking for the Bianchi Oltre XR4 was won by Jumbo-Visma last year, but it dropped to fifth this year. The famed Italian bike maker’s sculpted celeste frames stand out in a sea of black bikes, and it has no shortage of performance features, such as aggressive, deep aero tubes and Dura-Ace carbon wheels.

Despite losing the Tour on the penultimate stage, Jumbo-Visma won three stages and finished second on the general classification with Roglič.

6. Bahrain-McLaren / Merida Scultura Disc

Bahrain-McLaren’s Merida Scultura is a beautiful lightweight climber that pops with vibrant orange, red, and blue colors. We like the classic design of the Scultura, but it is also very aerodynamic with its smooth rounded tubes.

The package features Vision wheels and Dura-Ace tires. While the team didn’t win any stages, Mikel Landa placed fourth overall, and Damiano Caruso, pictured above, placed 10th.

7. Sunweb / Cervélo S5

Cervélo S5 by Sunweb is all about going fast, and it’s the most aerodynamic frameset of the bunch. There are prominent curves around the wheels of a multicolored bike, an aero cockpit, and a seat post with deep oversize tubing.

As part of this Tour, Sunweb’s Sren Kragh Andersen won two stages, while Marc Hirschi, pictured above, won stage two and was awarded the “super combativity” award for riding aggressively.

My first mountainbike was a Sunweb / Cervélo S5. It represented everything I loved about biking- the feeling of speed on steep descents, pumping up hills with my friends in tow; but most importantly it allowed me to explore new places and access points that would’ve otherwise been inaccessible without this machinery!

8. AG2R-La Mondiale / Eddy Merckx Stockeu 69

In the eighth stage, AG2R-La Mondiale’s Nans Peters won a solo breakaway to save the Tour. It was aboard the Eddy Merckx 525, an understated, good-looking bike with a pleasing mix of colors and handsome lettering to honor the GOAT. In addition to the rim brakes, the carbon wheels by Mavic and gumwall tires complete the classic look.

The Switzerland-based sponsor, AG2R La Mondiale has announced that Eddy Merckx will be the namesake for their new cycling team.
The company is known to have sponsored some of professional sports’ biggest stars including tennis player Roger Federer and football club AS Monaco’s star striker Dimitri Payet who currently plays in Ligue 1 with Marseille Football Club after signing from West Ham United FC last summer.

9. Total Direct Energie / Wilier Triestina 0 SLR

Glossy blue Wilier Zero SLR ridden by Total Direct Energie was runner-up in last year’s ranking and dropped a few places this year. The bike is fast and aerodynamic, but its multicolored Ursus wheels may not appeal to everyone. Despite failing to win or finish high in Paris, the team got lots of TV coverage for Jérôme Cousin’s solo ride.

The Wilier Triestina 0 SLR is a versatile road bike that can be used for racing or training. It features an aluminum frame with carbon fork, dual pivot brakes and handlebars as well as Shimano’s 10 speed transmission which means you’ll have the option of riding on flats or hills!

10. UAE-Emirates / Colnago Concept

This year’s Tour-winning bike, Tadej Pogaar’s Colnago V3rs, is a special ride. This is the first Tour victory for the famous Italian bike maker, yet its history is full of stars and victories. With the V3rs, Pogacar was able to score spectacular victories in high mountains.

In addition to winning three individual stages, he won the white jersey, the polka-dot jersey, and the yellow jersey. The Italian flair of his bike is complemented by the Campagnolo groupset and wheels.

The team behind the Emirates – Colnago Concept, an offthebook initiative by officials in Dubai. The city-state currently has over 6 million residents and is quickly becoming one of North Africa’s most prominent cities for trade between Europe, Asia & America with its thriving marketplaces making it increasingly popular among tourists alike.”

11. Lotto-Soudal / Ridley Helium SLX

Due in large part to the sprinter Caleb Ewan of Lotto-Soudal, the team won two stage races on the Tour. He selected Ridley’s lightweight climbing bike in the mountains, the Helium SLX, equipped with Campagnolo components. The bike is colorful and well designed, but it’s a bit overcrowded with stickers and lettering. Stage wins still stage wins.

Lotto-Soudal, the team that brought us Sep Vanmarcke in February 2012 and 2011 World champion Greg van Avermaet earlier this year is set to announce their second signing for 2019.

The Belgian squad has signed UCI Professional Road Racing classification rider Ridley Helium SLX whose previous top results include 2 stage wins at Tour de Pologne’s Gstage 1 category (44km) & Stage 6 Individual Time Trial – 17 km; finishing 14th overall which was enough thanks to bonus seconds given by

organisers when he held onto 4th place during one day of racing after taking advantage while fighting against some big names like Dylan Teuns (BMC), Enrico Gasparotto SkyD religions

12. Movistar / Canyon Aeroad Disc

It didn’t win a stage this Tour, but Movistar placed Enric Mas fifth overall in Paris and won best team honors. It was on the flatter stages where riders such as Alejandro Valverde, pictured above, chose the Canyon Aeroad CF SL, a rig designed to cheat the wind and go fast. The blue paint job has always been a favorite of ours as well. One of two teams on the Tour that used SRAM components was Movistar.

The Movistar / Canyon Aeroad Disc is an incredible disc golf putter. It has a comfortable grip and durable plastic blade that can withstand any throw you want to make with it!

I’m fortunate enough to have the opportunity of testing out some amazing new equipment this year from both companies, but one item in particular caught my eye: The “Aeroad” byBULLS (Movistar).

This incredibly unique looking test driver was unlike anything else we had seen before – not only does its sleek black color scheme look great on camera; those who handle them will also notice how ergonomic they feel as well because there’s no need at all for extra weight or bulk when throwing around our back yard

13. Arkea-Samsic / Canyon Ultimate

Despite failing to win a stage for his Arkea-Samsic team, Nairo Quintana put in some gutsy riding and showed glimpses of his previous world-class form.

This is a stiff lightweight climbing bike with low-profile Dura-Ace wheels and components that make it a performance powerhouse in the mountains. It stands out as the only white frameset in the bunch. The Canyon type is also one of our favorites.

ARKEA-SAMSIC and CANYON Ultimate both offer a full range of products to help you find the perfect flooring for any space. 14. NTT Pro Cycling / BMC Teammachine SLR

NTT’s BMC Teammachine SLR 01 is designed for speed with its minimalist aero frameset and cockpit. Unlike most of the mostly black bikes, this one stands out more with its distinctive white lettering and red top.

The look is complemented by a gold-plated chain and ENVE wheels with deep-profile spokes. NTT did not win a stage this year as its star sprinter, Giacomo Nizzolo, quit midway through the race due to injury.

The new Teammachine SLR is designed to be as fast and efficient on the climbs, but with a little added climbing power for those brutal ascents.
This bike has an angled carbon frame that provides excellent handling due in part by its low weight; it comes equipped with disc brakes front and rear wheels along side Shimano derailleurs which provide great shifting capabilities when you need them most- even during high-speed descents!

15. Trek-Segafredo / Trek Madone

Trek-Segafredo’s Émonda SLR, one of the lightest and fastest climbing bikes in the peloton, does not wow us aesthetically. Nonetheless, the aero climber that Richie Porte rode to victory in Paris shows it has legit street cred. It is always advisable to match the color of the saddle tape to the handlebar tape. This is just a fact.

With its rock climbing frame, Trek-Segafredo is building the future of cycling.
The Italians are taking on mountain terrain with an innovative engineering for this season’s Tour de France:

The Madone 9% 29″ wheeled MTB prototype created by their design team in Florence to prove themselves as leaders of world sportives and endurance racing while also being ready at any time when you need your bike fast enough so that everything else can be taken care off before focusing all efforts into riding hard up challenging ascents!

16. Israel Start-Up Nation / Factor One

Start-up Nation’s Factor O2 Vam is a superlight climbing bike designed for going as fast as possible uphill. No matter how glossy the paint job is, even its brushed blue lettering looks fast.

With oversized Ceramic Speed pulley wheels and minimalist Black Inc. wheels, it’s built for free speed. In this Tour, Israel Start-Up Nation did not win a stage or place high in the overall standings.

Israel is a country that has always been at the forefront of innovation. From compass and gunpowder to modern technologies like lasers, water pipes which allow their citizens access to potable drinking water without carrying plastic bottles downtown; Israel’s inventiveness knows no bounds!

The latest example? “Israel Start-Up Nation” by Factor One – an event series designed specifically for entrepreneurs who are looking into how they can contribute more positively in society while also growing their businesses exponentially through learning from experts across disciplines including psychology & social sciences as well technological fields such us cybersecurity or computer science among many others.”

17. Deceuninck-Quick-Step / Specialized Tarmac SL7

Alaphilippe’s victory on the second day of the Tour de France was Deceuninck-Quick Step’s first of three stage wins. He did it on his Specialized Tarmac SL7, and he famously rode on clincher tires. In addition to being fast, the bike has an underwhelming appearance, so it ranks lower in this ranking.

Whether it’s a race ahead of time, or just out for an easy ride with friends and family on the weekends – you need one bike that can do everything.

The Deceuninck-Quick Step / Specialized Tarmac SL7 is perfect: fast enough to go up hills but strong enough when things get tough; comfortable whether using pedals as well gears so everyone has their own personal wheels at heart!

18. Bora-Hansgrohe / Specialized Venge

The Specialized Tarmac raced by Bora-Hansgrohe’s Peter Sagan is probably the fastest bike at the Tour de France, but it looks like it lags behind the pack. A little white and a little green add some color, although if results are what you want, a shiny Tarmac with disc brakes and Di2 will do the trick. It was Lennard Kämna of Bora who won a stage, and Peter Sagan who chased the eighth green jersey until Paris.

Bora-Hansgrohe set out to make a women’s specific road bike with the goal of making it feel like they are riding an extension of themselves.

To do this, they created Venge bikes in three different sizes: small (51 cm), medium (53) and large(56 inches). The frame has been designed for comfort while still providing excellent handling during fast rides through country roads or flat courses due at least partly because its geometry works well even when traveling over rough terrain rather than just smooth pavement.

19. B&B Hotels-Vital / KTM Revelator Alto Sonic

The team’s KTM Revelator Alto, equipped with Shimano and FSA components, has a teal fork with a touch of white and orange. While complimenting the design, the DT Swiss wheels do not overpower it. Taking part in its first Tour, KTM is a brand new kid on the block. Despite not winning a stage, the team was active in several breakaways.

The Vital B&B Hotels-KTM Revelator Alto Sonic are the perfect way to get away from it all. These four star accommodations provide guests with an opportunity for rest, relaxation and rejuvenation in a serene forest setting that includes hiking trails as well as swimming holes located nearby!

20. Cofidis / De Rosa SK Bianca Elia Viviani

Cofidis rides De Rosa bicycles, and while they’re sure to ride well, they look similar to others in the bunch with their nearly all-black livery. De Rosa produces classic Italian bikes, so it’s only fitting that the Cofidis Tour bikes come with electronic Campagnolo components.

The lightweight De Rosa Merak may appeal to minimalists, but it will leave others wanting. At least it has a red heart. The Cofidis riders did not win a stage this year, but Guillaume Martin finished 11th overall.

Cofidis and De Rosa SK’s Bianca Elia Viviani are two of the most established teams in professional cycling, so it was no surprise when they signed this star rider.
Known for her powerful sprints with plenty o f energy to go all-out until the line is crossed at top speed, even on tired legs!

21. Groupama-FDJ / Lapierre

Lapierre Xelius SL, from Groupama-FDJ, is a modern climbing machine with classic looks that don’t inspire. The aero shape is pleasing and the rear triangle is compact for extra stiffness. Pair that with Dura-Ace Di2, disc brakes, and a Garmin Edge power meter and you can’t go wrong.

However, even the “Noir” bike of Thibaut Pinot could be improved. It was a disappointing Tour for the team, which didn’t win any stages or finish high up the general classification, as Pinot collapsed in the middle of the race.

Groupama-FDJ and Lapierre have been the top favourite teams to watch for years. The rivalry between these two squads has seen all time highs, as they battle it out on race day in Paris-Roubaix each spring season
The yellow jersey wearer of this prestigious bicycle competition holds a spot near royalty among cycling enthusiasts worldwide because he or she represents France with pride at its highest form: la Faille — “the fissure.”

22. CCC / Giant TCR Advanced SL

Despite being a lightweight climber, CCC’s Giant TCR Advanced SL lacks visual stimulation. The trend of all-black bikes began a decade ago, but it feels dated these days. Their performance in this ranking isn’t good, and it never has been.

In addition, oversized lettering on wheels is gaudy, even if we love gumwall tires. CCC orange is at least eye-catching. Garmin Edge and Dura-Ace provide excellent performance. The only thing it needs is a visual makeover. This Tour was a surprise for CCC, which had a star-studded squad.
