I wanted to see what made cycling different from running and why cyclists shave.
I talked with one of my coaches about it, who said that bike racers want two things: being fast on the track as well as staying out of sight.

One reason is that it’s easier to massage the leg muscles when they are shaved because you can get more grip on them than with hair and sweat in your hands, but this isn’t really necessary if you only plan on doing light exercise or have access to lotion/oil before biking. As you ride your bike, it’s likely that at some point in time, there will be a crash. Even if you have been riding for years and know all the tricks to keep from crashing-it can still happen! When this does happen while on a ride, parts of their body may end up getting scraped against the road as they skid across it leaving them with terrible calluses or rashes where their skin has rubbed off. It is most often because when we are going full speed down hills, our legs scrape along side us scraping away any rough spots found just below our knee caps.

I can’t imagine what it would be like to have your legs covered in hair. Even when I shave my armpits, the little stubble that’s left makes me so uncomfortable!
While there is no concrete evidence of who first began shaving their legs as a cyclist, one thing we do know about this tradition is its longevity- at least throughout the past 100 years and possibly longer still before women started getting rid of leg hair around 1900s (around the time people were starting wearing swimsuits on an everyday basis).
Other ways Cyclists Try to Increase Their Speed
While you may think that a cyclist’s most important focus is to shave their legs or pack light, the truth is they do anything and everything in order to increase speed. There are many other methods cyclists will try which can make them go just a little bit faster- things like shaving your hair off entirely, packing as few clothes (or no clothing) on an extended trip so you don’t have extra weight weighing down on your back while climbing hills at higher speeds for longer periods of time.
Avoiding Wind Resistance by Tucking Elbows
Doing anything active when it’s windy, including cycling, running, or hiking is very difficult to achieve successfully. In an attempt to avoid the wind slowing them down, cyclists will try tucking down and bending over in order to easily travel with even against the push of air coming from behind them. However, this can also be due to superstition since others who wear theirs like this aren’t viewed as experienced professionals yet – only rookies or newcomers would do such a thing!
Cyclists are starting to think outside of the box when it comes to their safety. With more and more neon colors coming on the market, cyclists have been expressing some love for these creative helmets that can make them stand out in a sea of other white-colored ones.

For example of someone who has an annoying ringtone with blaring music playing through speakers attached straight into the bike frame would suffice just fine in this instance but those wanting something more discreet should try adding small stuffed animal toys which could then provide entertainment for cyclists riding
The rookie cyclist will have a tiny tube, pump, and lever for their tire in the back pocket of their outfit. They also like to ride without any objects like saddlebags but instead carry only what they need so that they can maintain an effortless balance on the bike with minimal weight. Many experienced cyclists find newbies who place stickers from sponsors or other companies on their bikes tacky because it’s often just another way to make money off cycling which is supposed to be about having fun doing something you love!
Why Cyclists Shave Their Legs
What if we told you there’s a whole community of cyclists dedicated to keeping their legs smooth? This is no coincidence because they know that bare legs can be the difference between life and death on two wheels.
